From Abergavenny take the A40 to Aberhonddu - Brecon. Follow the A40 through Crickhowell and continue for about 15 miles towards the village of Bwlch. Keep going for a further 5 miles until you arrive at the roundabout where the A470 joins south east of the town. Take the A40 towards Llanfaes, and pass Brecon Golf Club. Ty Berllan is located just after St David's Church, Llanfaes opposite the junction with Newmarch Street. Free Parking can be found in Orchard Street Car Park next door to West End Fish Bar, or on-street parking in Orchard Street, Bailihelig Road, Newgate Street and Newmarch Street.
Arriving from West Wales, take A44 to Llangurig, then A470 to Rhayader. Continue on A470 to Brecon. Drive through the town centre, over the River Usk - Bridge Street, then into Llanfaes. Brecon is not fortunate to have a mainline railway station, but is amply served by a regular bus service. Ty Berllan is close to bus stops in both directions. The nearest railway station is Merthyr Tydfil, and a regular bus T4 takes you directly from the station to Ty Berllan. Alight opposite St David's Church and the cottage is a short walk across the road. From Abergavenny railway station take the X43 or 43 bus to Brecon Bus Interchange. Ty Berllan is a 10 minute walk from the bus interchange across the town via Bridge Street and continue past Christ College School to Church Street.
Ty Berllan is a traditional 18th Century cottage built before the motor car was the most common mode of transport! Whilst the cottage doesn't benefit from it's own designated parking space there are plenty of places to park nearby. The map is marked up with 'blue' P signs which show where you can park:
Orchard Street (Heol Y Berllan) - either in the free carpark or in the parking bays outside Christ College
Newmarch Street - any of the marked bays that are available
Newgate Street - any of the parking bays that are available
Side road next to St David's Church
Please do not park at Llanfaes Primary School
